Financial Analyst Position

As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating expenses and cost transactions to ensure accuracy and alignment with control accounts and contracts.
  • Providing detailed financial analysis and reports on expenses, including breakdowns of project costs, forecasts of remaining costs, and opportunities to increase efficiency.
  • Supporting the development of integrated cost reporting and project dashboards across the project.
  • Aligning cost breakdown structures with work- and risk break down structures across functions.
  • Supporting the preparation and execution of Quality Control and Risk Assessment (QCRA) across multiple contracts and integrated project positions.
  • Using cost data and intelligence to engage with contracting authorities to inform project decision-making.
  • Supporting contract administration teams in cost/invoice reconciliation processes.
  • Providing cost intelligence, including industry knowledge and data, to support scenario development for managing indirect costs.
  • Conducting market research to recommend changes to pricing or business models.
  • Preparing periodic cost reconciliation reports tracking data such as changing labor and supply costs.
  • Capturing lessons learned from other projects in the capital portfolio.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to manage large, complex financial models and budget plans.
  • Understanding of capital project life cycles from asset needs definition to operational commissioning.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams with client-facing skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, as well as ERP accounting software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business, or directly related experience.
  • Estimating and cost analyst or engineer experience.
  • Experience in capital project management at the client or prime consultant organization level.
  • Certifications with AACE or PMI are an asset but not mandatory.
