The Head of Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) serves as a key operational executive with a proven track record in establishing, developing, and enhancing a centralized corporate program and project management office. This role is pivotal in steering the effective execution and successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of programs and projects throughout Definity.

Reporting directly to the VP of Enterprise Portfolio Delivery & Corporate Technology, this leader will facilitate Definity's hybrid and agile project management methodologies, emphasizing streamlined process design, effective communication, training, and organizational growth.

The individual will oversee a team of program and project managers, focusing primarily on the Claims sector while also extending support to personal, commercial, product divisions, corporate technology, and other enterprise support functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transform and elevate a team of program and project managers by utilizing shared best practices to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of initiatives.
  • Ensure the effective execution and delivery of programs and projects across various business functions.
  • Collaborate closely with business leaders to implement lean and agile methodologies that enhance scalability and drive business results.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and changes to support teams and guarantee successful program and project outcomes.
  • Leverage industry best practices to create efficient, effective, and agile program and project management methodologies, processes, and templates for the PMO; document and promote their adoption across Definity.
  • Establish and operationalize portfolio management strategies to ensure cohesive oversight of programs and projects.
  • Develop tools and dashboards that provide early insights and facilitate data-driven decision-making regarding programs and projects.
  • Utilize systems thinking to guide process design and optimization across Definity as necessary.
  • Communicate extensively across teams, senior leadership, and executive staff, promoting transparency.
  • Build and lead a premier program management office to support these responsibilities.

  • Manage a team of program and project managers to cultivate a culture of excellence.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve corporate and team objectives while effectively managing relationships.
  • Guide the vision, planning, and execution of team objectives.
  • Work alongside peers and leaders to enhance productivity and accountability for high-quality outcomes.
  • Play a crucial role in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members, offering expertise and mentorship.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing and professional development initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and professionalism, resolving conflicts as necessary.

Competencies Required:

  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant field such as business, IT, or computer science.
  • Over 12 years of experience in Project and Portfolio Management within a dynamic technology environment.
  • A minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in managing complex, organization-wide programs and projects.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing project financials and budgets.
  • Familiarity with the P&C insurance sector is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, Agile, or Six Sigma are preferred.
  • Strong relationship management skills to collaborate effectively with business partners and IT teams.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with a knack for influencing stakeholders.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $97,000 and $178,800, depending on various factors including skills, experience, and local market conditions.
