Milling Operations Supervisor

As a key member of the Mill Department, reporting directly to the Mill Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the milling operations of ore. Your responsibilities will encompass the management of all mill activities, with a strong emphasis on safety, strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, cost management, and processing efficiency.
In collaboration with the management team, you will formulate the overarching strategy for the mill, exploring and recommending both short-term and long-term initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will be instrumental in developing and executing operational programs, processes, and policies that align with key performance indicators (KPIs), providing expert guidance on milling processes and practices while identifying and implementing best practices for production optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Process Plant, ensuring production targets are achieved in a cost-efficient manner while prioritizing safety and security.
- Lead risk management initiatives within the Process Plant.
- Prepare and coordinate accurate budgets and forecasts, demonstrating strong business acumen in managing milling and maintenance costs.
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the Process Plant and its infrastructure to ensure optimal operation and maintenance of assets through the company's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Ensure that operations and maintenance are adequately resourced to meet operational needs in accordance with approved schedules and budgets.
- Manage mill project initiatives aimed at optimizing process performance.
- Oversee metallurgical processes and operational control parameters to achieve maximum gold recoveries, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Evaluate and analyze plant performance data, generating reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Manage and optimize procurement and change management requests.
- Focus on cultivating a skilled and motivated operations workforce through effective training, open communication, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with supervisors to ensure effective management of rosters, leave, operational coverage, and professional development within the department.
- Contribute to all relevant reporting and statistical analysis.
- Work alongside the safety department to ensure the implementation and adherence to safety policies by all staff under your supervision.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, with a preference for a College Diploma or University Degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant processing experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a gold processing environment.
- A minimum of 3 years in a senior supervisory role.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with process control equipment and software, such as HMI and OSA.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
