Agnico Eagle is seeking a highly skilled Mine Captain to join our team. As a key member of the Mine Department, you will be responsible for planning and operating mining activities, ensuring safety, production, and cost targets are met.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Safety
- Model and reinforce safety in all operating procedures and meet governmental regulations.
- Inspect underground workstations and identify potential safety hazards.
- Take corrective action on safety issues and report incidents.
- Operations and Planning
- Coordinate day-to-day mining activities among supervisors and teams.
- Consult and contribute to Engineering and Mining plans and schedules.
- Ensure acceptable productivity levels and troubleshoot technical problems.
- Administration and Reporting
- Balance time sheets and overtime distribution.
- Verify productivity bonuses and authorize vacation.
- Control inventory and equipment levels.
- Communication and Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with shifters, crews, and other departments.
- Lead by example and motivate supervisors and crews to work safely.
- Maintain good relations and positive attitude among employees.
- A minimum of a Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Ten (10) years of experience in mining, with at least three (3) years at the supervisory level.
- Competency with Ontario Mining Act and Regulations.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
