As a key member of the Mill Department, reporting directly to the Mill Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient milling of ore and directing all activities within the mill. Your role will encompass safety management, strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, cost control, and processing operations.

You will provide coaching, mentorship, and supervision to the mill operations, metallurgy, administration, and assay lab teams, along with associated contractors and consultants, to achieve organizational goals and foster continuous improvement.

Collaborating with the management team, you will define the overarching strategy for the mill, exploring options and recommending both short-term and long-term projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will also spearhead the development and implementation of operational programs, processes, and policies to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), offering expert guidance on mill processes and practices while identifying and executing actions to adopt best practices for mill production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Process Plant, ensuring that production targets are met in a cost-efficient manner while prioritizing safety and security.
  • Lead risk management initiatives within the Process Plant.
  • Prepare and coordinate accurate expenditure budgets and forecasts, demonstrating sound business acumen in managing mill processing and maintenance costs.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all areas of the Process Plant and its infrastructure to ensure proper operation and maintenance of assets through the company's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ensure that operations and maintenance are adequately resourced to meet operational needs in accordance with schedules and approved budgets.
  • Manage mill project work as necessary to optimize process performance.
  • Oversee metallurgical processes, practices, and operational control parameters to achieve optimal gold recoveries, throughput, and cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate and review plant performance, including tests and historical data, to complete reports and provide recommendations.
  • Manage and optimize purchase and change management requests.
  • Focus on developing a skilled and motivated operations workforce through effective training, open communication, involvement, and performance feedback.
  • Collaborate with the General Supervisor and Supervisors to ensure effective management of rosters, leave, operational coverage, and professional development within your department.
  • Contribute to all relevant reporting and statistical analysis.
  • Work closely with the safety department to ensure that policies are implemented and adhered to by all staff under your supervision.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; preference for a College Diploma or University Degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant processing experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a gold processing environment.
  • 3 years of experience in a senior supervisory role.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with process control equipment and software such as HMI, OSA, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
