Position Overview:

The Collection Solutions Specialist serves as the primary liaison for all matters related to delinquency and collections. Reporting to the Director of Collection Solutions, this role is essential in understanding member needs and delivering tailored advice and solutions that empower individuals to manage their financial responsibilities effectively. The goal is to foster long-term financial wellness while mitigating potential risks and liabilities for Assiniboine Credit Union.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and pursue opportunities to assist members in enhancing their financial situations, collaborating with various teams and external partners to reduce potential risks and liabilities.
  2. Oversee delinquency management for an assigned portfolio, adhering to established collection policies and procedures.
  3. Engage in negotiations and communications with members following any granted workout loans, ensuring a systematic approach to early identification of problem accounts.
  4. Conduct thorough analyses of delinquent accounts, utilizing critical thinking and negotiation skills to provide sound guidance and direction to members.
  5. Prepare and evaluate workout proposals for eligible members, ensuring comprehensive information is included to support recommendations.
  6. Review and act upon all delinquency matters, including property tax arrears and insurance cancellations, ensuring compliance to minimize risks.
  7. Assess and implement cost-effective strategies to initiate appropriate solutions, including potential legal actions.
  8. Prepare legal documentation and manage all legal aspects related to collection activities.
  9. Oversee the management and sale of foreclosed properties, ensuring effective administration and maintenance.
  10. Manage the repossession and sale of seized assets, ensuring compliance to minimize costs and risks.
  11. Establish and maintain productive relationships with external partners, including solicitors and real estate professionals.
  12. Initiate collection efforts on accounts requiring skip tracing and prolonged judgments to mitigate credit losses.
  13. Exhibit professionalism and respond promptly to inquiries, ensuring exceptional member service.
  14. Ensure accuracy and efficiency in handling inquiries, administrative tasks, and transactions.
  15. Develop clear and concise summaries in the member management system to facilitate timely follow-ups.
  16. Lead initiatives aimed at process improvements by:
    1. Identifying areas for enhanced performance and administrative efficiency.
    2. Analyzing and implementing transformative processes, providing training as necessary.
    3. Updating procedures as required.
    4. Managing daily administrative tasks effectively.
    5. Conducting necessary investigations as required.
    6. Accurately processing bankruptcies and consumer proposals within established timelines.
    7. Preparing required reports and reconciliations for regulatory bodies.
    8. Maintaining records of financial write-offs and reporting.
    9. Participating in internal and external audits, demonstrating commitment to organizational values.
  17. Adhere to all organizational policies regarding internal controls and risk management.
  18. Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information encountered during the course of duties.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma along with a minimum of four years of experience in credit and collections, and at least two years in an administrative capacity.
