THE THIRD FLOOR stands as the leading visualization company globally, with locations in Los Angeles and London, as well as on-site collaborations with productions worldwide. Since its inception in 2004, the studio has empowered clients to visualize and enhance content through the creation of computer-animated blueprints, referred to as "previsualizations". The Third Floor prides itself on a creative and enjoyable work environment, having contributed to high-profile projects while maintaining an intimate studio atmosphere. The company has garnered multiple Emmy and VES awards for its outstanding work. Recent projects include notable titles such as Avatar: The Way of Water, House of the Dragon, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, For All Mankind, Masters of the Air, among others.

The Third Floor is in search of a Cinematic Technical Artist to enhance our Finals Animation team utilizing Unreal Game Engine. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in Unreal Engine and will collaborate with our Tech Render team to deliver IO and QC support for our Finals FX department.

Project-based. Remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ingest and develop real-time VFX assets in shots
  • Integrate 2D FX/emitters into projects
  • Assist the FX, Lighting, and Comp departments with scene configurations
  • Validate scene elements to ensure shot quality during department transitions
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine
  • Strong understanding of Unreal's Niagara FX system
  • Familiarity with UE Materials and material-based FX
  • Experience with Movie Render Queue, particularly in rendering AOVs for Nuke Compositing
  • Experience utilizing third-party Unreal tools

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with Source Control (Perforce preferred)
  • Experience with Blueprints, especially editor utility widgets
