About the Role

As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) within our dedicated Mental Health team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to individuals facing mental health challenges. Your expertise and compassion will directly impact their well-being and recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer psychotropic medications with precision and care, ensuring patient safety and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each patient's needs within the context of their family and community support systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, fostering open communication and shared decision-making.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address complex patient care situations.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans that promote mental health and well-being.
  • Partner with community resources to facilitate smooth discharge planning and ensure ongoing support for patients.

Qualifications

  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct nursing care in a mental health setting.
  • Completion of CMH Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training within 3 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in utilizing the Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS) and Meditech electronic health record system.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
