We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Homewood Health, a leading provider of mental health and addiction services in Canada.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' leisure functioning and needs, utilizing standardized assessment tools and observation skills.
- Develop and implement therapeutic interventions to promote healthy leisure lifestyles, including facilitating groups and individual sessions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver seamless services and programs to clients and customers.
- Communicate and document assessment results and treatment plans to clients and team members, adhering to program and discipline standards.
- Provide individual counseling and support to clients, addressing specific needs and goals.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs based on client needs, promoting integration and community involvement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Graduate Certificate, or Recreation Therapy Diploma.
- Registration with BCTRA or Certification with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS).
- Experience working with mental health and addiction populations, with a focus on trauma-informed care.
- Strong assessment and group facilitation skills, with knowledge of standardized and non-standardized assessments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
