About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at Homewood Ravensview, a leading mental health and addiction treatment center in Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and develop therapeutic interventions to promote healthy leisure lifestyles in clients with mental health and addiction issues.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions to address behavioral patterns and improve social interaction, mood, and functional level.
  • Communicate and document assessment results to clients and team members, adhering to program and discipline standards.
  • Assume a therapeutic role in clients' motivation, counseling, supervision, and instruction in recreation therapy interventions.
  • Develop and implement programs based on patient needs, promoting integration and community leisure resource utilization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Graduate Certificate, or Recreation Therapy Diploma.
  • Experience working with mental health and addiction populations.
  • Registration with BCTRA or Certification with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS).
  • Knowledge of standardized and non-standardized assessments, group dynamics, and facilitation skills.
  • Service-specific training in wellness education, childhood trauma, and sexual abuse, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Recovery, CBT, CPR, Mental Health Act, PHIPA, and concurrent addiction disorders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, excellent presentation skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
