About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Recreation Therapist to join our team at Shannex Incorporated. As a key member of our Recreation department, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing wellness programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Recreation team to design and deliver a comprehensive wellness program that meets the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
  • Assist residents in achieving their wellness goals through individualized and community-wide programs.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses and community groups to enhance program development.
  • Provide orientation and support to new residents, ensuring a smooth transition to our community.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual with a passion for recreation therapy and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. You will possess:

  • A two-year post-secondary diploma in Recreation Therapy or a related field.
  • Knowledge of techniques and equipment needed for a variety of recreation programs used in a therapeutic setting.
  • Knowledge of human behavior as related to the leisure needs of the resident population.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and community partners.
  • A Class G Driver's License is an asset.
  • Proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification, as well as a Safe Food Handler's Course, is required.
