About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Coordinator to join our team at Community Development Council Durham. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the work of the Durham Non-Profit Network (DNN), a collaborative group of community-based service providers and organizations working together to strengthen community well-being in the Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Development and Management
    • Operationalize the Terms of Reference (TOR) that guides the work of the DNN.
    • Utilize a client-centered, anti-oppression, anti-racism, trauma-informed, gender-based analysis plus+ and strength-based approach in partnership with the Manager, Social Planning and Durham Non-Profit Network.
    • Engage existing members and recruit new members into the Network.
    • Gather information on similar Networks, including the Ontario Non-Profit Network, in other jurisdictions, their structure, activities, funding sources and determine their effectiveness in improving community well-being.
  • Research and Analysis
    • Research and analyze social policy that impacts the work of the non-profit sector in Durham and formulate policy papers on behalf of the DNN.
    • Ensure local perspectives are incorporated into all policy analysis.
  • Grant Writing and Fundraising
    • Support the DNN to locate and apply for funding opportunities that will support their work.
    • Collaboratively develop and write grants to advance the work of the DNN.
    • Implement the deliverables for all approved grants to support the development and execution of DNN's goals and objectives.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach
    • Determine ways in which members of the DNN can support each other's work for the benefit of the community.
    • Identify service gaps and duplication in Durham Region.
    • Keep up to date on developments, and other community development tables in Durham Region that impact on the work of the DNN ensuring they complement and not duplicate existing activities.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Act as the main point of contact for the Network, responding to external inquiries.
    • Establish a culture of collaboration among members of the DNN.
    • Actively participate on the Community Development team at CDCD.
  • Administrative and Reporting
    • Complete administrative duties for the Network including creating meeting agendas, taking minutes and producing monthly reports.
    • Organize and chair monthly DNN meetings.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in social services, social work, social sciences or another applicable field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in community development.
  • Proven experience in supporting networks and committees with memberships consisting of non-profit organizations.
  • Experience working in a multi-sectoral environment and familiar with assisting newcomers, youth, seniors, persons experiencing homelessness and other equity-seeking communities is an asset.
  • Written and oral fluency in English and proficiency in a second language is an asset.
  • Experience in grant writing with a track record of successfully securing grants.
  • Possess strong facilitation skills that will assist the DNN to undertake activities that will help the Network to achieve its goals.
  • Current and up-to-date knowledge of Durham social service providers.
  • Demonstrates understanding of issues faced by marginalized populations.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to multicultural communities.
  • Knowledge of anti-oppression principles and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience working with external consultants.
  • Must have a high level of integrity and ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate networks and conduct outreach and recruitment.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and virtual platforms such as Zoom.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, and occasionally on weekends (one Saturday per month).
  • A valid Ontario driver's license (Class G), use of a vehicle and insurance with the ability to work in a variety of settings.
  • The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Screening and certificate demonstrating proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 prior to commencing employment.
