The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team on a casual/on-call basis. As an Education Assistant, you will provide specialized support to students with identified special needs in a school-based setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with special needs, as directed by the Principal.
- Work effectively with students, adults, and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless support for students.
- Participate in school-based planning teams to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Assist with classroom management, behavior support, and crisis intervention as needed.
- May be required to dispense approved medications and sign medication forms.
- Collaborate with other staff members to provide a comprehensive support system for students.
- College of the Rockies SPEDA course or equivalent college program in Human Services with a focus on behavior management and special needs.
- Ability to work effectively with students and adults, and communicate appropriately with staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Valid B.C. (Class 5) Driver's License may be required for certain assignments.
