Position Overview
About the Role:
The High Acuity Response Team (HART) program at Interior Health represents a pioneering initiative aimed at delivering mobile critical care to patients in remote regions. This service caters to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients who require advanced medical attention beyond Basic Life Support. The team typically consists of a Critical Care Registered Nurse and a Registered Respiratory Therapist, complemented by Basic Life Support paramedics from the British Columbia Ambulance Service and an on-call transport physician. In collaboration with rural healthcare providers, HART plays a crucial role in stabilizing patients and facilitating their transfer to more advanced care facilities when necessary.
During periods without transport duties, HART Registered Nurses contribute significantly to patient care at their designated base hospital.

- Cranbrook, nestled near the Rocky Mountains
- Trail, located in the scenic Kootenay region
- Kamloops, set in the picturesque Thompson Shuswap area
- Penticton, renowned for its stunning Okanagan Valley

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with current registration from the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of an accredited critical care training program and/or certification, along with a minimum of three years of recent experience in caring for critically ill or injured patients, including inter-facility patient transfers; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Completion of an accredited trauma course such as the Transport Nurse Advanced Trauma Course, International Trauma Life Support Course (ITLS), Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC), or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Course (PHTLS); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Valid BC Driver's License
