Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Employee Relations Specialist to join our Employee & Labour Relations team at Federated Co-operatives Limited. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert advice and guidance on labour relations, employee engagement, and human resources strategies to help our team leaders excel in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide labour relations services to clients across the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS), including researching past case law and developing responses to employee-initiated claims.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with union representatives to facilitate business operations.
  • Coach team leaders on issues such as return to work plans, employee absenteeism, and develop Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) as required.
  • Support the Labour Relations Community of Expertise by preparing research material for collective bargaining agreement negotiations and developing scalable business continuity plans.
  • Lead intakes and conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations in response to complaints filed by FCL employees.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, or Law degree, with a preference for Human Resources.
  • Minimum of 6-9 years of relevant progressively responsible HR advisor experience in a unionized work environment, with a primary focus on labour relations.
  • Familiarity with employee relations, collective bargaining, and/or the grievance and arbitration process.
  • Results-oriented and honest, with a strong commitment to collaboration and building relationships.
