Position Overview
The Claims Information Entry Specialist plays a crucial role in the accurate input and management of insurance claims data. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, handling confidential information, and compliance with data protection regulations. The specialist will ensure that all claims are processed efficiently and correctly, adhering to established protocols.
Primary Duties
- Input insurance claims data into the database, including patient details, procedure codes, and billing figures.
- Ensure all data entries align with the organization's policies and standards.
- Recognize when submitted claims lack essential information necessary for processing.
- Examine and confirm the accuracy of insurance claims data; maintain a minimum accuracy rate of 98% consistently.
- Rectify any inconsistencies and verify that all required information is present prior to submission.
- Keep organized and current records of all processed claims.
- Identify and amend errors in claims submissions.
Requirements
- Preferred: Associate's degree or higher.
- Minimum of two years of experience in medical billing, insurance claims processing, or a related area.
- Proficient in data entry with a preference for experience in healthcare or insurance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, including CPT and ICD-10 coding is advantageous.
Essential Skills
- Quick and precise typing abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to juggle multiple responsibilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate high-pressure situations.
