Role Overview: We are in search of a passionate and experienced educator to join our Junior School faculty as a Homeroom Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Primary and Junior education, particularly within the framework of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), and demonstrate proficiency in project-based and experiential learning methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and evaluate the curriculum in alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
  • Integrate the mission, vision, and values of CIS Ontario into all educational and extracurricular activities.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress, including report cards and regular communication with parents and colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior, creating a conducive learning environment.
  • Utilize diverse strategies to cultivate strong developmental relationships with students.
  • Incorporate innovative practices and technology to enhance the learning experience across various subjects.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that reflects a variety of perspectives and worldviews.
  • Create an engaging and positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management techniques.
  • Stay informed of best practices by actively participating in professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to co-curricular and athletic programs as a teacher lead or coach.
  • Support experiential learning by supervising overnight excursions.
  • Participate in assigned supervisory duties.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree, B.Ed., and active membership with the Ontario College of Teachers with Primary or Junior qualifications.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching Homeroom classes.
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an asset.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage with students, parents, and staff in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • A proactive and flexible team player with a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in navigating a technology-rich educational environment, with expertise in Google Workspace being advantageous.
