Aecon is in search of a Planning and Scheduling Lead to enhance our Urban Transportation Solutions division, focusing on innovative transit projects across Canada. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume comprehensive responsibility for ensuring project adherence to Aecon's Project Controls standards and relevant contractual documents.
  • Create and sustain all necessary project timelines while ensuring data integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Anticipate the need for various resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, based on thorough analysis of work fronts.
  • Establish productivity benchmarks to be utilized in estimates, developed in collaboration with the Construction team.
  • Generate essential progress reports and dashboards to communicate project status updates to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement and uphold an Earned Value Management strategy to assess project performance, identify discrepancies, and facilitate accurate forecasting.
  • Manage schedule change notifications and assess project impacts, implementing corrective measures when performance deviates from the established baseline.
  • Conduct audits on various schedules, including those generated by subcontractors, and prepare all necessary documentation.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Aecon's Project Controls policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain, modify, or enhance schedule data and plans.
  • Oversee and facilitate the integration of schedule 5D with the 3D model and cost, reporting outputs such as cash flow and sequencing simulations.
  • Manage project change processes, including subcontractor claims, change requests, and dispute resolution.
  • Provide both commercial and technical expertise to support proposal development and ensure compliance with contractually defined project control requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations regarding Project Controls requirements, project setup, monitoring, and closure.
  • Identify commercial and scheduling risks, developing mitigation strategies to guarantee timely and high-quality planning and scheduling deliverables.
  • Understand the Monte Carlo risk analysis process and contribute to the Risk Mitigation Plan.
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop project controls personnel, including Project Planning and Scheduling Specialists, Leads, and Planners/Schedulers.
  • Foster an inclusive culture that promotes equity, embraces diverse perspectives, and supports career advancement by nurturing a sense of belonging.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in the rail transit sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning, scheduling, and managing complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management principles.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead project planning and scheduling teams.
  • Skilled problem solver with sound judgment, taking ownership and accountability.
  • Expert-level proficiency in project planning and scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and TILOS.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Hard Dollar, PowerBI, and Synchro is advantageous.
  • Advocate for inclusion and diversity within the workplace.
