Job Summary:

Mpi Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Transportation Planner/Modeller to join our team. As a key member of our transportation planning team, you will play a lead role in analyzing travel forecasts and traffic modeling for various transportation planning projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analysis of travel forecasts and traffic modeling for transportation planning projects, including transportation master plans, major new corridor studies, transit planning studies, and land development projects.
  • Analyze and evaluate alternative road, transit, and travel demand management strategies to optimize transportation systems.
  • Develop and prepare technical memos, reports, and proposals to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Supervise and participate in the collection of traffic count data and preparation of inventories of road facilities to inform transportation planning decisions.
  • Train and mentor junior staff to develop their skills and knowledge in transportation planning and modeling.
  • Conduct research and analysis of land use, demographic, and travel data to inform transportation planning strategies.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in transportation planning and modeling.
  • Strong working knowledge of transportation planning principles, processes, and practices, including experience with transportation planning models such as Emme/2, Emme/3, System II, TransCad.
  • Experience with micro-simulation models such as VISSIM, VISIM, Paramics, etc. is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and availability of vehicle for site visits, meetings, etc.
