Job Title: Mechanical Building Inspector

Job Summary:

The City of Windsor is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Building Inspector to join our team. As a Mechanical Building Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that buildings and structures in the City of Windsor meet the Ontario Building Code and other relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and other relevant regulations.
  • Review and approve building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and other relevant regulations.
  • Investigate complaints and enforce compliance with the Ontario Building Code and other relevant regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to builders, architects, and engineers on building code requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of building code policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent combined with an additional year of post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Must have Provincial Qualifications from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs in General Legal/Process, H.V.A.C. House and Building Services, or Plumbing House and Plumbing All Buildings.
  • Must have experience in a computerized office environment and be familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and other related standards.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to meet deadlines. The candidate must also be able to work independently and as part of a team.
