We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Counsellor-Continuing (1.0 FTE) to join our team at the Vancouver School Board. As an Elementary & Secondary Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counselling services to students, addressing a range of issues including academic struggles, social relationships, and emotional challenges.
- Develop and implement comprehensive school counselling programs, aligned with the British Columbia Ministry of Education's curriculum and standards.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Conduct assessments and develop strategies to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with special needs and English language learners.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and involving them in the counselling process when necessary.
- Bachelor of Education degree and a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or School Counselling.
- Minimum 400 hours of supervised clinical practicum/internship experience.
- Teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level is an asset.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in counselling children and consulting with school staff and parents.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough knowledge of programs and services for families in the district and community.
