Unit Overview

The Clinical Resource Centre (CRC) functions within the Quality and Performance Program, providing essential support to the Nursing Resource and Clinical Resource Team. This includes non-ambulance patient transportation, specialty equipment rentals, VAC machine distribution, and the coordination of contracted security services. The CRC serves as a central resource hub for staffing and services within Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Services Officer (CSO) to ensure optimal scheduling and alignment of Nursing Resource Team (NRT) and Clinical Resource Team (CRT) staff, employing best practices in scheduling and utilizing Automated Scheduling and Time and Labour Entry software.
  • Accountable for the assignment of NRT/CRT personnel to meet HHS operational needs, adhering to established policies, procedures, and collective agreement provisions.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to facilitate non-ambulance patient transfers, manage specialty equipment rentals, oversee the distribution and tracking of VAC machines, and arrange contracted security services for patient supervision.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of the Nursing Resource Team, the Business Clerk plays a crucial role in scheduling and assigning NRT/CRT staff while providing clerical support aligned with the services offered through the CRC.

Work Schedule

Days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a community college secretarial or office administration program, or equivalent office experience.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2, or equivalent knowledge acquired through previous roles, subject to testing.
  • Keyboarding proficiency of 40 words per minute.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Windows, MS Outlook/Exchange, and Meditech.
  • Mathematical skills applicable to payroll, budgeting, and statistical documentation.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (both verbal and written), interpersonal abilities, public relations, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently.
  • Experience in collaborating effectively with various hospital departments.
  • Understanding of the confidential nature of the position.
  • Capability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Familiarity with Kronos ESP or other automated scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated experience in scheduling and knowledge of collective agreements.
