Senior Operations Manager, Performance Management

Salary: The salary range for this role is CAD $54 to CAD $77.
Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Senior Operations Manager responsible for the strategic oversight of daily operational management and maintenance of designated healthcare facilities. This position reports directly to the Director and plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and reliable environment for healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Assess current operational practices and establish systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across assigned sites.
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budget, ensuring thorough monitoring of expenditures and variance analysis.
- Lead recruitment, mentorship, and professional development initiatives for staff and contract employees, including performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Address work performance issues and implement disciplinary actions when necessary, while participating in labour relations meetings.
- Enhance maintenance programs through continuous improvement, utilizing planning and scheduling techniques to ensure effective preventive and responsive maintenance.
- Oversee procurement and management of external service providers, negotiating terms and monitoring compliance with contractual agreements.
- Manage construction, renovation, and maintenance projects, coordinating with stakeholders to minimize facility disruptions.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, providing technical support to Planning and Capital Projects teams.
- Contribute to business continuity planning in collaboration with clinical leadership and Emergency Management.
- Promote best practices in energy conservation and environmental standards.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive supervisory and management experience in a large, complex unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills: Proven knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices in a multi-site healthcare setting, with the ability to take decisive action in crisis situations. Strong leadership capabilities to guide staff and contractors effectively.
