Position Title: Membership and Community Engagement Specialist

Are you enthusiastic about fostering international collaboration and enhancing the engagement of organizations based in Saskatchewan? The Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation (SCIC) is dedicated to promoting a just, equitable, and sustainable world by empowering our members, educating the public, and facilitating connections among those we serve.

We are in search of a dedicated and innovative Membership and Community Engagement Specialist to spearhead the growth of our membership base, focusing on Saskatchewan-based international development organizations and individuals committed to social justice.

This role will involve the development and execution of initiatives aimed at expanding SCIC's outreach and enriching our community engagement. The position will also provide relevant capacity-building events to support the Inspiring Action for Global Citizenship project, funded by Global Affairs Canada.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with membership application processes for the Membership and Awards Committee.
  • Oversee annual membership renewals and conduct surveys.
  • Engage with members, partners, and relevant regional and international stakeholders.
  • Offer guidance and collaborative support for member-led public engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate capacity-building opportunities for members related to the Inspiring Action for Global Citizenship project, including Gender Equality.
  • Ensure SCIC's development principles, values, and crosscutting themes are reflected in membership and network activities.
  • Stay informed about overseas funding opportunities for Saskatchewan-based groups and share this information with relevant members and stakeholders.
  • Create networking opportunities, explore collaborative ventures, and attend regional meetings and events as feasible.
  • Lead the organization of annual International Development Week (IDW) Global Citizen Awards and other member-focused events.
  • Coordinate issues-based networking events, such as the Gathering of Global Minds discussion series and annual conferences.
  • Ensure the collection of appropriate quantitative and qualitative evaluation data for all membership programs and events.
  • Work within budgetary and deliverable guidelines as outlined by funding agreements and directed by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain accurate databases and records for reporting on program deliverables and compile data for Results Based Management reporting as necessary.
  • Participate in staff meetings and program planning as required.
  • Complete regular work planning and reporting as needed.
  • Coordinate content for semi-annual and annual reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


Qualifications:
  • A relevant undergraduate degree plus 2-3 years of professional experience in program design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and cloud-based applications.
  • Experience with member-based organizations is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in program planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of international development issues or practical experience in the field.
  • Experience working in diverse cultural environments is advantageous.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in relatively unstructured situations.
  • Demonstrated interest in international cooperation, non-profit, humanitarian, and/or education sectors.
