Position Overview:

The City of Calgary is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Assistant Deputy Chief within the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA). This position is crucial for supervising personnel engaged in emergency preparedness, training, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer strategic guidance to subordinate staff
  • Assist the Chief and Deputy Chief in achieving strategic objectives
  • Oversee human resource activities
  • Foster collaborative relationships with external partners
  • Support agency personnel in emergency preparedness projects
  • Participate as a team member in the Emergency Operations Centre
  • Monitor and escalate emergency situations as necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • Two-year diploma in Emergency Management or a related discipline, accompanied by eight years of relevant experience
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Relevant designations or certifications are advantageous
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills

Pre-employment Criteria:

  • Must pass enhanced security clearance
  • Obtain a City of Calgary licence
  • Successful candidates will need to provide verification of qualifications
