Position Overview:

The City of Calgary is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Assistant Deputy Chief within the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA). This pivotal position entails the supervision of personnel engaged in emergency preparedness, training, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver strategic guidance to subordinate staff
  • Assist the Chief and Deputy Chief in achieving strategic objectives
  • Oversee human resources activities
  • Foster collaborative relationships with external partners
  • Support agency personnel in emergency preparedness projects
  • Participate as a staff member in the Emergency Operations Centre
  • Monitor and escalate emergency situations as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 2-year diploma in Emergency Management or a related discipline, accompanied by 8 years of relevant experience
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Relevant designations or certifications are advantageous
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills

Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Enhanced security clearance is mandatory
  • Must secure a City of Calgary licence
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide verification of qualifications
