Position Overview:

The City of Calgary is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Assistant Deputy Chief within the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA). This position is pivotal in leading a team dedicated to emergency preparedness, operational efficiency, and training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver strategic guidance to team members
  • Assist the Chief and Deputy Chief in achieving organizational goals
  • Oversee human resources activities
  • Foster partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Support agency personnel in emergency preparedness efforts
  • Participate actively in the Emergency Operations Centre
  • Monitor emergency situations and escalate as necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 2-year diploma in Emergency Management or a related discipline, accompanied by 8 years of relevant experience
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Certification in pertinent fields is advantageous
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills

Pre-employment Criteria:

  • Must pass an enhanced security clearance
  • Required to obtain a City of Calgary licence
  • Successful candidates must provide verification of qualifications
