Financial Leadership at Fairmont Château Laurier

We are seeking a seasoned financial professional to lead our finance team at the iconic Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa. Reporting directly to both the Regional Director, Finance & Business Support for Accor Central Canada and the General Manager of Fairmont Château Laurier, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and operational excellence within this prestigious hotel.

  • Strategic Financial Guidance: Analyze revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments, and future revenues. Provide strategic recommendations to optimize resource allocation and contribute to the overall success of the property.
  • Financial Management Expertise: Oversee all aspects of accounting, purchasing, receiving, and IT operations, ensuring adherence to Accor, IFRS, and internal financial controls. Prepare comprehensive financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Team Development & Engagement: Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment by supporting, guiding, and coaching team members. Implement strategies to enhance colleague engagement and foster a high-performing finance department.
  • Executive Collaboration: Actively participate in key meetings, including the Executive Committee, Department Head meetings, and Revenue Management sessions. Contribute to the development of annual operating budgets, sales plans, and strategic initiatives.
  • Operational Excellence & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Accor's policies, IFRS standards, and internal financial controls. Establish and monitor operational controls and strategies to mitigate risk and safeguard assets.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow management activities, approve disbursements, and monitor budget and forecast performance to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel.
  • Health & Safety Champion: Promote a culture of safety within the finance team and operations by adhering to and enforcing health and safety standards.

Your Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in senior financial leadership roles, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Canadian Accounting Designation preferred.
  • Proficiency in complex accounting software, Microsoft applications, and relevant computer tools.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and a detail-oriented approach to financial management.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain composure under pressure.
