Job Summary:

As a Product Development Associate at Fastenal, you will play a key role in assisting the management and development of the overall strategy for selected product categories. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the growth and success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure their needs and strategic objectives are met.
  • Assist in the development and introduction of new product lines, leveraging market trends and customer insights.
  • Support product enrichment by optimizing product offerings and improving customer experience.
  • Facilitate supplier consolidation and strategic sourcing opportunities to drive cost savings and efficiency.
  • Help maintain product costing and pricing positions to ensure competitiveness.
  • Support product catalog management for specific markets and Fastenal's website.
  • Work with internal teams on product cross-references and ensure accurate product information.
  • Assist in the induction of new products within Fastenal's Exclusive Brand offering.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and customer service-oriented.
  • Strong organization, planning, and prioritizing abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Demonstrate Fastenal's core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess or be working towards a degree related to Business, Marketing, or Operations.
  • Prior work experience with product association, placement, and supplier negotiations.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with industrial products.
