Aquatics Supervisor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Supervisor to lead our aquatics team and ensure the provision of a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve and sustain program growth for aquatic programming
  • Ensure the hiring, supervision, and training of lifeguards, instructors, and volunteers to maintain a safe aquatic environment
  • Perform service standards and provide leadership through direct service delivery, with a focus on program quality and participant engagement
  • Identify resource needs and liaise with Recruitment for hiring of new staff
  • Provide role and program-specific orientation and training to new employees and volunteers
  • Coach, develop, and support employees and volunteers to achieve excellence in service delivery
  • Manage employee and volunteer performance and complete reviews within required process timeframes
  • Deal with performance issues using the required steps in the discipline process, up to and including termination
  • Participate in branch/program planning sessions and assist with the development and implementation of program plans and materials, ensuring compliance with Association/legislative requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of program operating budgets and ensure programs are delivered within budget
  • Attend staff meetings, planning sessions, and training events as required
  • Explore and develop community partnership opportunities to increase the breadth of YMCA programs and services
  • Communicate with program participants and/or stakeholders to ensure service delivery standards are being met
  • Promote philanthropy through the YMCA's annual Community Campaign
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive, results-oriented, customer service, and supervisory experience
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Demonstrated achievement in implementing service standards
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate
  • Access to a vehicle or ability to travel within the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable sector Search
  • 3 professional references
