Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to join our Aquatic Team at the YMCA of Greater Vancouver. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for our members and participants.
Key Responsibilities- Guarding and teaching swimming lessons in a professional and positive manner
- Building meaningful relationships with members, visitors, and colleagues
- Promoting philanthropy through the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign
- Developing lesson plans for various programs and administering progressive evaluations for participants
- Ensuring program design, layout, and offerings meet the needs of all participants at various levels
- Leading program delivery, while ensuring content meets the appropriate criteria and outline
- Performing general administrative duties and record-keeping responsibilities
- Ensuring the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards, policies, and procedures
- Assisting with training new staff and volunteers in procedures and practices
- Remaining flexible and willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing circumstances
- Current Standard First Aid certificate (valid within 2 years)
- CPR level C and AED certificate (valid within 1 year)
- National Lifeguard - Pool Option
- Water Safety Instructor certification or equivalent
- Experience as a Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor (preferred)
- YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalent (preferred)
- Access to reliable transportation or a vehicle
- Advanced leadership courses (an asset)
- Demonstrated high level of customer service skills
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search
- 3 professional references
