Nursery Labourer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit Nursery Labourer to join our team at KS Nurseries Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the growth and maintenance of our plants and flowers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tie and secure plants to ensure proper growth and development
  • Weeding and pruning to maintain a healthy and organized work environment
  • Assist in mixing and preparing soils to meet the specific needs of our plants
  • Plant bulbs and seeds to ensure a diverse and thriving garden
  • Pot and re-pot plants to maintain optimal growth conditions
  • Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings to promote healthy growth
  • Report any signs of insect or disease damage to prevent the spread of disease
  • Dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs to prepare for transplanting
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens to ensure optimal growth and health
  • Clean the work area to maintain a safe and organized environment
Work Environment:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks, requiring physical stamina and attention to detail. The work site environment includes floriculture production, outdoors, and exposure to odours and heat.

Requirements:
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • Experience an asset, but not necessary
  • Efficient interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Attention to detail and ability to report signs of insect or disease damage
