Challenge Course Facilitator
Title: Challenge Courses Facilitator Reports directly to: Outdoor Education Director & Summer Camp DirectorKey Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the Challenge Course program and collaborate with the Outdoor Facilitator team to deliver a safe and enjoyable program during the Outdoor Education and Summer seasons.
- Develop and implement training programs for Outdoor Education Facilitator Staff in challenge course activities.
- Ensure a safe and engaging experience for campers and teachers by monitoring safety concerns and meeting their needs.
- Oversee the daily operations of challenge course activities, including high ropes, rock climbing wall, and low ropes.
- Design and deliver daily programming that incorporates the challenge by choice philosophy and combines challenge course activities with camper groups.
- Debrief activities and ensure students have a comprehensive learning experience.
- Manage inventory and maintain a record of equipment, ensuring it is inspected and organized for use each day.
- Conduct daily inspections of the challenge course and report any issues to the Director in a timely manner.
- Set a positive example for clients by demonstrating professionalism, cleanliness, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
- Maintain a positive and professional work environment with fellow staff.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old at the beginning of camp.
- Hold Level 2 certification from a challenge course professional trainer or be willing to obtain through the organization.
- Previous experience working with children of related age groups.
- Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR C.
- A clear vulnerable sector Criminal Reference Check.
- Experience leading and training others in belaying technique.
