Course Details:

Course Title: Sessional Instructional Assistant - JRE410H1 F - Markets and Competitive Strategy

•Course Synopsis: This course provides an introduction to essential concepts, frameworks, and methodologies that aid managers in developing and implementing entrepreneurial strategies in technology-driven enterprises. The initial segment focuses on understanding the various environments influencing a business and the components that contribute to a competitive advantage. The latter sections delve into creating and delivering customer value, involving strategic choices regarding market segmentation, targeting, positioning, and tactical decisions about product launches, marketing strategies, distribution, and pricing. The course also addresses challenges related to innovation and industry dynamics, including industry life cycles, disruptive technologies, product renewal, and the interplay between research and development and commercialization.

Position Specifications:

•Estimated Enrollment: per practical section

•Positions Available: 1 Head SIA (110 hours), up to 5 SIAs (90 hours each)

•Scheduled Sessions: Wednesdays 4-6 p.m. or 6-8 p.m.

•Compensation: $52.26/hour

•Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should possess a PhD or Master's degree with a robust background in marketing and strategy. An engineering background is advantageous, as is prior teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with a PhD or Master's degree and a strong foundation in marketing and strategy are preferred. An engineering background and previous teaching experience in a similar course are also beneficial.

Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be responsible for in-person teaching and invigilation. Duties include: a) conducting weekly case-study analysis sessions for approximately 30 students; b) grading assignments, mid-terms, and final assessments; c) supervising the in-person final examination; d) assisting in the development of case study materials; e) performing additional duties as assigned. The Head SIA will have extra responsibilities for coordinating tutorial sessions and supporting course administration.
