Position Overview:
The University of Toronto is seeking a dedicated Sessional Instructional Assistant for the course titled Markets and Competitive Strategy. This role involves engaging with students and facilitating their understanding of essential business concepts.
Course Information:
Course Title: Sessional Instructional Assistant - JRE410H1 F - Markets and Competitive Strategy
Course Description: This course provides an introduction to fundamental concepts, frameworks, and methodologies that assist managers in developing and implementing entrepreneurial strategies within technology-driven enterprises. The curriculum is divided into three segments: the first focuses on understanding various business environments and the components of a competitive advantage; the second emphasizes the creation and delivery of customer value through strategic and tactical decision-making; and the third explores innovation challenges and industry dynamics, including life cycles and the interplay between research and commercialization.
Position Details:
- Number of Positions: 1 Head SIA (110 hours), up to 5 SIAs (90 hours each)
- Scheduled Sections: Wednesdays 4-6 p.m. or 6-8 p.m.
- Sessional Dates: September to December
- Compensation: $52.26 per hour
Qualifications:
Minimum: PhD or Master's degree with a robust background in marketing and strategy. An engineering background is advantageous, along with prior teaching experience.
Preferred: PhD or Master's degree with significant expertise in marketing and strategy. Experience in teaching similar courses is highly regarded.
Responsibilities:
The Sessional Instructional Assistant will be responsible for:
- Conducting weekly case study analysis sessions for approximately 30 students
- Grading assignments, mid-term exams, and final assessments
- Supervising in-person final examinations
- Assisting in the development of case study materials
- Other duties as assigned
The Head SIA will also coordinate tutorial sessions and support course administration.
Additional Information:
This position is governed by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. It is important to note that some job postings may be tentative, pending final course determinations and enrollment figures. In cases where the rates in the collective agreement differ from those stated in this posting, the collective agreement rates will take precedence.
Preference will be given to qualified individuals who have been advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with the collective agreement.
