Position Overview

As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, your primary focus will be on assessing credit applications, managing approvals, and overseeing customer account administration. You will also play a key role in fund collection while fostering beneficial customer relationships, all while maintaining an acceptable risk level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new customer applications, assess credit risks, and establish accounts
  • Collaborate with Profit Centre Managers and Credit Managers to set credit limits for both new and existing clients
  • Notify Profit Centre Managers of any changes in a customer's business that could adversely affect their credit standing
  • Manage collections on accounts while ensuring positive and profitable customer relationships
  • Work alongside the sales team to devise strategies for managing higher-risk accounts
  • Investigate and resolve customer disputes; address short payments promptly to exceed customer expectations and benefit the Profit Centre
  • Maintain comprehensive notes in the computer system for each account
  • Prepare delinquent accounts for third-party collections, manage bad debt reserves, and process write-offs
  • Gather necessary documentation, including personal guarantees and letters of credit
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Credit Manager

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in finance or a related business field
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French
  • Certification or progress towards the Certified Credit Professional designation
  • A minimum of three years of experience in credit or finance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with sound business judgment
  • Strong analytical abilities with a knack for reconciling accounts
  • Ability to manage multiple open files and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Thorough understanding of credit bureau reporting
  • Capacity to learn and utilize the relevant software systems for order processing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience or knowledge of plumbing and building products
  • Familiarity with the construction industry
