Job Title: Thrift Store Manager

This position provides leadership in the organization and supervision of all operational areas of the retail store. The Thrift Store Manager ensures the mission of The Salvation Army is supported by the store generating funds and positively influencing the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and supervise store staff to achieve sales and customer service goals.
  2. Develop and implement effective store operations, including inventory management, cash handling, and customer service.
  3. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Collaborate with the management team to achieve store objectives and contribute to the overall success of The Salvation Army.
  5. Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive shopping experience for customers.
  6. Manage store inventory, including receiving, stocking, and maintaining a visually appealing store environment.
  7. Process cash transactions, manage cash handling, and maintain accurate records.
  8. Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and customer engagement.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to improve store operations and customer service.

Requirements:

  1. Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program in Business/Retail Management or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of prior related retail store management experience, specifically in secondhand merchandise preferred and supervisory experience.
  3. Computer skills in Excel and Word.
  4. Cash handling experience is required.
  5. Experience with cash registers and related processes and procedures.
  6. Leadership and team building skills, with an understanding of conflict resolution.
  7. Ability to enter data and perform statistical analysis efficiently and accurately.
  8. First Aid/CPR Certificate and ability to maintain it current.
  9. Experience with specific systems/programs related to The Salvation Army is an asset.
  10. Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values.
