Job Responsibilities

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will assist individuals requiring support due to aging, injury, surgery, or illness. This role focuses on agency staffing support and home care services.

  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Helping clients with personal hygiene and dressing
    • Offering companionship and emotional support
    • Accompanying clients on outings or physical activities
    • Preparing simple meals
    • Performing light housekeeping tasks such as dishwashing, laundry, and cleaning
    • Providing temporary relief for primary caregivers
    • Reminding clients to take their medications
    • Transporting clients to appointments or shopping
    • Contributing to the overall care plan for clients
    • Executing delegated tasks as needed within your professional scope
  • This position involves direct care in clients' homes or at care facilities.
Qualifications
  • Must possess one of the following credentials:
    • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited program
    • Registered Nurse/Registered Practical Nurse, Paramedic, or a student in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy with at least one year completed
    • Certification as a Home Support Worker (level II or III), Health Care Aide, or Personal Attendant
    • Certification as a Developmental Support Worker
    • Internationally recognized qualifications as a Nurse, Midwife, or Physician
  • Must have a valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Daily travel may exceed 30 minutes, so having a vehicle is essential. Applicants without a vehicle will not be considered.
  • Physical capability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach; ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) independently; capacity to assist clients with mobility and repositioning.
  • Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • Updated immunization records, including a two-step tuberculosis test completed within the last six months.
  • A clear criminal background check and Vulnerable Sector Check are mandatory upon hiring.
  • Ability to engage with clients in a caring, respectful, and courteous manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in using computer and mobile applications.
Additional Requirements
  • Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months.
  • Proof of three COVID vaccinations.
  • Recent TB test results (within 6 months to a year).
  • Immunization documentation.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
