Role Responsibilities

As a Personal Support Worker, you will assist individuals requiring support due to aging, injury, surgery, or illness. This position involves providing agency staffing support and home care services.

  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Assisting clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing and dressing
    • Offering companionship and emotional support
    • Accompanying clients on outings or exercise sessions
    • Preparing basic meals
    • Performing light housekeeping tasks including dishwashing, garbage disposal, laundry, vacuuming, and dusting
    • Providing respite care for primary caregivers
    • Reminding clients to take their medications
    • Transporting clients to appointments or shopping
    • Participating in the client's overall care plan
    • Executing delegated tasks as needed within your professional scope
  • This role will involve direct interaction with clients in their homes or at care facilities.
Qualifications
  • Possession of one of the following qualifications:
    • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited program
    • RN/RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy student who has completed at least the first year of their program
    • Valid certification as a Home Support Worker (level II or III), Health Care Aide, or Personal Attendant
    • Certification as a Developmental Support Worker
    • Internationally recognized Nurse, Midwife, or Physician
  • A valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are essential. Daily travel may exceed 30 minutes, so having a vehicle is mandatory. Candidates without a vehicle will not be considered.
  • Physical capability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach; ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) independently; ability to assist clients with mobility.
  • Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • Updated immunization records, including a two-step tuberculosis test completed within the last six months.
  • A clear criminal background check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required upon hiring.
  • Ability to interact with clients in a caring, respectful, and courteous manner.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Competence in using computer and mobile applications.
Additional Requirements
  • Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months.
  • Proof of three COVID vaccinations.
  • Recent TB test results (within 6 months to a year).
  • Comprehensive immunization record.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
