Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all Baycrest clients, families, and staff. The successful candidate will oversee the operations of Housekeeping, Linen/Laundry Services, Portering, and Mail Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of Environmental Services staff, ensuring compliance with service objectives and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement departmental objectives, goals, policies, and procedures to drive operational excellence.
  • Manage and resolve complaints, risk issues, and concerns from stakeholders, ensuring a seamless system for safe patient care delivery.
  • Recruit, select, and supervise staff, including coaching and counseling unionized employees.
  • Ensure staff adherence to hand hygiene and infection control guidelines, and report patient/client safety events as required.
Requirements
  • College diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Ontario Hospital Association's Environmental Services Leadership Certificate Level 1 and 2 courses or Executive Housekeeper diploma completed or in progress.
  • Five years of experience in a culturally diverse unionized environment, preferably in healthcare or hospitality.
  • Excellent leadership, prioritization, and organizational skills, with ability to facilitate change and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of applicable Collective Agreements and relevant legislation.
