Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all Baycrest clients, families, and staff. The Environmental Services Supervisor oversees the operations of Housekeeping, Linen/Laundry Services, Portering, and Mail Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of Environmental Services staff, including recruitment, selection, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement departmental objectives, goals, policies, and procedures to ensure seamless delivery of patient care services.
  • Manage and resolve complaints, risk issues, and concerns from stakeholders, ensuring compliance with PIDAC standards.
  • Ensure assigned staff adheres to hand hygiene and infection control guidelines in all work activities.
  • Recognize, respond to, and report patient/client safety events, ensuring compliance with the Safety Event Reporting System.
Qualifications
  • College diploma is an asset.
  • Ontario Hospital Association's Environmental Services Leadership Certificate Level 1 and 2 courses or Executive Housekeeper diploma completed or in process.
  • Five years of previous experience in a culturally diverse unionized environment.
  • Previous experience in a large healthcare or hospitality facility is preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to facilitate a supportive, collaborative working relationship between Environmental Services staff and customers.
  • Demonstrates ability to facilitate change and be flexible when required.
  • Ability to model effective conflict resolution and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent prioritization, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable Collective Agreements, including Scheduling and Shift Assignment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
