Description:

  • As an Environmental Services Supervisor at Verve Senior Living, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and clean environment for our residents. Your primary goal will be to help each person have a great day, every day.
  • Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager, you will be responsible for performing maintenance repairs, painting, and maintenance on equipment and supplies in the home.
  • You will adhere to all regulations and standards in accordance with the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority.
  • Grade 12 education is required, and at least one year of experience is preferred, with a background in the electrical or mechanical trades.
  • You must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language and be able to perform physical duties inside and outside the home when necessary.
  • You will be required to work weekends on a rotational schedule and be available for emergency call-in as needed.
  • You will participate actively in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program and maintain the building in good repair, keeping it free of hazards.
  • You will monitor environmental fire safety conditions, equipment, and alarm systems and perform periodic tests of systems, keeping required records of test results.
  • You will maintain the emergency pull cord system and emergency lighting system in good working order and perform routine maintenance and repair work.
  • You will coordinate maintenance work with other departments and maintain the exterior grounds, including salting, snow removal, and weed control.
  • You will plaster, paint, and perform carpentry and repair work, including minor plumbing and removing/installing toilets, faucets, water supply hoses, and flow valves.
  • You will maintain required records and reports as outlined in the policies and procedures of the maintenance department.
  • You will maintain the residence in a safe and clean environment and keep work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.
  • In the absence of the environmental services manager, you will perform duties and supervision as required.
  • You will participate in staff meetings and applicable educational training and follow established safety rules and policies and procedures of the maintenance department.
  • You will maintain effective communication with residents, tenants, and staff and use the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
  • You will perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of all fire safety equipment and inspect fire extinguishers on a monthly basis.
  • You will comply with all corporate policies and procedures and complete all required mandatory training/education.
  • You will comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and W.H.M.I.S. and participate in in-services and fire drills.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned by the environmental services manager.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education
  • At least one year of experience in the electrical or mechanical trades
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the English language
  • Ability to perform physical duties inside and outside the home when necessary
  • Availability for emergency call-in as needed
