Role within the Faculty

We are looking for a professional to join the Research Partners Network, an extension of the Vice President (Research and Innovation) portfolio. This network consists of a diverse team of skilled professionals embedded within various Colleges/Faculties, providing essential support to facilitate research success and alleviate administrative burdens on researchers.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Advisor
  • Assist researchers in developing Indigenous-focused research proposals.
  • Provide expert advice to academic leaders and researchers on research administration matters, including policy interpretation and issue resolution.
  • Support faculties in creating and managing research-related policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and deliver training on best practices in research development and administration.
Issue Resolver
  • Provide data and analytics for informed decision-making by leadership.
  • Address research administration issues and collaborate with various stakeholders to find solutions.
  • Identify potential challenges and propose innovative, researcher-centered solutions.
Relationship Manager
  • Build and maintain positive relationships within assigned areas.
  • Facilitate partnerships between faculty and the Vice-Provost Indigenous Programming & Research Office.
  • Engage with external funding organizations and community sponsors to enhance research initiatives.
Researcher Support
  • Provide strategic guidance and hands-on assistance for grant application development.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of research capacity within assigned areas.
  • Develop educational materials to support researchers in securing funding.
  • Coordinate proposal development support with resources from various units across the University.
Qualifications
  • A graduate degree (Master's) is required, with a preference for experience in Indigenous-focused research.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in an academic research environment.
  • Proficiency in developing and writing research funding applications.
  • Experience in delivering training opportunities.
  • Strong IT skills relevant to modern work environments.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a large institutional setting.
  • Personal experience with Indigenous peoples and diverse groups is valued.
  • Cultural sensitivity and diplomacy are essential.
