Role within the FacultyWe are looking for a professional to join the Research Partners Network, an extension of the Vice President (Research and Innovation) portfolio. This network consists of a diverse team of skilled professionals embedded within various Colleges/Faculties, providing essential support to facilitate research success and alleviate administrative burdens on researchers.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Advisor- Assist researchers in developing Indigenous-focused research proposals.
- Provide expert advice to academic leaders and researchers on research administration matters, including policy interpretation and issue resolution.
- Support faculties in creating and managing research-related policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and deliver training on best practices in research development and administration.
- Provide data and analytics for informed decision-making by leadership.
- Address research administration issues and collaborate with various stakeholders to find solutions.
- Identify potential challenges and propose innovative, researcher-centered solutions.
- Build and maintain positive relationships within assigned areas.
- Facilitate partnerships between faculty and the Vice-Provost Indigenous Programming & Research Office.
- Engage with external funding organizations and community sponsors to enhance research initiatives.
- Provide strategic guidance and hands-on assistance for grant application development.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of research capacity within assigned areas.
- Develop educational materials to support researchers in securing funding.
- Coordinate proposal development support with resources from various units across the University.
- A graduate degree (Master's) is required, with a preference for experience in Indigenous-focused research.
- At least five years of relevant experience in an academic research environment.
- Proficiency in developing and writing research funding applications.
- Experience in delivering training opportunities.
- Strong IT skills relevant to modern work environments.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills effectively.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively in a large institutional setting.
- Personal experience with Indigenous peoples and diverse groups is valued.
- Cultural sensitivity and diplomacy are essential.
