Position OverviewThis role is a contract position focused on compliance oversight. As a Compliance Assurance Analyst, you will engage in second line of defense compliance activities to support various risk management initiatives, including Fair Treatment of Customers (FTC) and Sound Commercial Practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Staying informed about evolving regulatory requirements and providing guidance on compliance matters.
- Communicating compliance challenges related to control design and effectiveness.
- Identifying, monitoring, assessing, documenting, and reporting risks.
- Creating and delivering training sessions, attestations, and other compliance-related processes and tools.
- Collaborating with compliance team members to enhance governance and business culture concerning sound commercial practices and fair treatment of customers.
Key Responsibilities
This role encompasses various compliance areas, including:
- Code of conduct and conflict of interest
- Product design and distribution strategies
- Customer disclosures and product promotion
- Claims handling and settlement
- Complaints management and dispute resolution
- Privacy and protection of personal information
- Administrative services and underwriting
- Cybersecurity and business continuity
You will also:
- Prepare and manage certifications and attestations related to regulatory compliance.
- Develop self-assessment tools for business units to evaluate compliance.
- Conduct independent investigations, root cause analyses, and assessments, providing detailed reports.
- Document and revise policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Research and propose key risk indicators and performance metrics for various risk programs.
- Analyze trends in risk changes to identify potential threats and opportunities for senior management.
- Partner with the learning and development team to create and deliver mandatory compliance training.
- Track training completion and report results.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 3-5 years of experience in compliance within the financial services sector.
- Experience in life insurance operations or investment product operations is advantageous.
- Proficiency in identifying and tracking regulatory changes and effectively communicating compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with at least 2 years of experience in data analytics and risk assessment.
- Technical expertise in information and data management tools.
- Experience in evaluating control design and implementation.
- Strong investigative abilities.
- Knowledge of life insurance products and distribution channels is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions while maintaining oversight independence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A customer-centric approach.
- Effective time management skills to handle multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Relevant post-secondary education.
- Certifications related to privacy, FTC, and risk management are beneficial.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
