Position Overview

As a volunteer leader, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of 10 to 15 volunteers to facilitate the planning and execution of our fundraising initiatives. Depending on community needs, available roles may encompass committee leadership, logistical coordination, outreach to the community, volunteer management, and social media engagement.



Role Summary

The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a significant event featuring a 5k or 1k walk or run.

In your capacity as the volunteer Director of Community Engagement, your responsibilities will include:

  • Offering leadership and direction to your team of Community Engagement volunteers (4-6 individuals, based on the size of the site).
  • Assisting the Community Engagement Leads in crafting local engagement strategies.
  • Ensuring the timely completion of all essential Community Engagement tasks as outlined in the critical path.
  • Working towards achieving local revenue and participant goals for your event.
  • Co-facilitating committee meetings alongside your fellow Director of Logistics.
  • Regularly meeting with your CCS staff partner and Director of Logistics.
  • Reviewing the CIBC Run for the Cure Minimum Standards to ensure all committee initiatives comply with CCS best practices.
  • Supporting the recruitment and onboarding process for new Community Engagement volunteers.

This event stands as the largest single-day, volunteer-driven initiative in Canada in support of breast cancer awareness.

Expectations
  • This role requires a commitment of 6 months (from May to October).
  • Participation in local committee meetings (typically bi-weekly to monthly).
  • Completion of independent role responsibilities (approximately 8+ hours per month).
  • Availability during the event weekend.
