Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy, Communications, and Stakeholder Relations, the Director of Engagement is essential in driving the strategic objectives of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH). This position merges proficiency in governmental relations, public affairs, and corporate communications to effectively connect with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as government officials, to bolster RVH's reputation and achieve key strategic goals.

This strategic leader will oversee a team responsible for crafting comprehensive advocacy and communication strategies, tools, and initiatives, while collaborating with a diverse range of partners, including patients and their families, volunteers, donors, community members, government entities, and the media. Responsibilities include the formulation and execution of strategies aimed at propelling RVH's significant capital expansion projects, managing internal and external communications, crisis management, media relations, special initiatives, event coordination, and leveraging social and digital media.

The Director will serve as a representative in the absence of the Vice President, providing guidance and support to the President & CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.

Educational Qualifications:
- A university degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, or a related discipline.

Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years in government relations, public affairs, or corporate communications, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Experience in public sector environments is preferred (provincial-level experience is an asset).
- Proven track record in lobbying, advocacy, or public relations.

- In-depth understanding of the healthcare sector, governmental frameworks, advocacy, and legislative processes in Ontario.
- Strategic mindset with the capability to enhance brand visibility and communicate critical information through targeted campaigns.

As a Regional Health Centre, RVH operates continuously to provide essential patient care. Therefore, availability for weekdays, weekends, and all shifts—days, evenings, and nights—may be required depending on the specific program.
