IC Layout Engineer: Role OverviewWe are in search of a Layout Engineer tasked with the design of RF and mixed-signal integrated circuit components from schematics, diagrams, or netlists, utilizing standard bulk CMOS and SOI technologies in accordance with established design protocols. A solid understanding of power, ground, ESD, and analog placement and routing considerations is essential. The Senior Principal Layout Engineer will oversee the physical design process from schematic to physical verification and tape-out, ensuring timely completion with minimal guidance. Familiarity with RF circuit and transmission line layouts is advantageous.
As a proficient expert in IC layout, the candidate must possess the capability to execute tasks creatively and effectively, tackling assignments that require significant judgment and initiative. The candidate should also grasp the implications of their work and be prepared to propose solutions, methodologies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Design layouts for RF and mixed-signal integrated circuit (IC) components from schematics, diagrams, or netlists using SOI, CMOS, RF CMOS, and GaAs technologies in compliance with design standards.
- Collaborate directly with IC design engineers to create and enhance layouts for optimal size and performance.
- Set and achieve project goals and milestones.
- Bachelor’s Degree in CAD or a related technical field OR a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in generating IC layouts and associated documentation, with expertise in CAD tools, particularly Cadence Virtuoso 6.1.8, Cadence VirtuosoXL, and verification tools such as Assura & Calibre, including DRC, LVS, and ERC.
- Proven attention to detail and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to adapt swiftly to changes and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes is required.
- Capable of coordinating and resolving issues with engineering teams.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Proficient in Custom Analog, RF & Digital layout skills, with the ability to work at the cell, block, and chip levels.
- Strong knowledge of device matching issues and effective analog/RF layout techniques.
The typical base pay range for this role is currently CAD $97,300 - $165,900 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, and the ultimate job duties and requirements.
