Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Rehabilitation Services, the Occupational Therapist will function autonomously as a vital member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The role involves engaging in the planning, execution, and assessment of rehabilitation services, employing a client-focused and goal-directed methodology for both pediatric and adult populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and deliver direct interventions tailored to individual client needs.
  • Provide consultation and educational resources to parents, caregivers, and the community.
  • Facilitate training and supervision for students and provisional staff within clinical settings.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to enhance service delivery.

The Occupational Therapist will demonstrate initiative and independent judgment in prioritizing tasks and determining effective strategies for addressing unique challenges. This position aligns with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Current Focus

The incumbent will primarily manage a caseload of Children & Youth.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
  • Active registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM).
  • Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and email communication.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to foster and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Respect for and promotion of cultural diversity within the community.
  • Proficiency in both official languages is essential for designated bilingual roles.
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position.
  • Commitment to confidentiality across all formats.
  • Demonstrated reliability in work attendance.
