Position Overview
As a key member of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, the Occupational Therapist will report directly to the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. This role requires a high level of autonomy in planning, executing, and assessing rehabilitation services tailored to the needs of both children and adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide direct therapeutic interventions.
- Engage in consultation and educational initiatives for clients, parents, and caregivers across various environments, including healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and community settings.
- Oversee and mentor students and provisional practitioners, contributing to the professional development of future healthcare providers.
- Utilize independent judgment to prioritize tasks and determine appropriate methodologies for addressing complex situations.
This position is aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud, ensuring that all actions reflect the organization’s commitment to quality care.
Current Focus
The primary caseload will involve working with Children & Youth, emphasizing the importance of tailored interventions to support their unique rehabilitation needs.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
- Active registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM).
- Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and email communication.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
- Able to foster and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Respect for and promotion of cultural diversity within the community.
- Proficiency in both official languages is essential for designated bilingual roles.
- Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position.
