Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the Admissions Manager to oversee and streamline daily patient care operations, including staffing and resource management for the admissions team.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and resource for the admissions team.
  • Promote effective teamwork and collaboration within the interdisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate staff onboarding and identify training needs for ongoing professional development.
  • Ensure that all admission documentation, including databases and quality assurance protocols, is accurately completed by staff.
  • Participate in recruitment, orientation, and performance assessments as necessary.
  • Liaise with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to support patient transitions.
  • Coordinate scheduling for Admissions Counselors.
  • Maintain awareness of health and safety protocols relevant to the admissions process.
  • Oversee bed assignments for new admissions and manage room change requests.
  • Review and assess any ambiguous evaluations, collaborating with the Admissions Manager and Clinical Director for final admission decisions.
  • Coordinate group placements for new admissions in partnership with the Clinical Director.
  • Engage in educational initiatives within the facility and contribute to the development and assessment of the department's Quality Improvement activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities for the Admissions Counselor include:

  • Respond to inquiries via phone, email, or fax, assessing eligibility for further evaluation or admission.
  • Provide detailed information about available programs and services within the Edgewood Health Network or refer to external providers as needed.
  • Conduct facility tours for prospective clients and address questions from families and friends.
  • Perform comprehensive addiction assessments and make clinical treatment recommendations.
  • Actively manage client cases, ensuring communication with clients, families, and external professionals as required.
  • Document all interactions with clients and their support networks.
  • Serve as a liaison for community referral agents, providing necessary documentation regarding client admissions.
  • Collaborate with team members on ongoing treatment planning and client evaluations.
  • Complete mandatory admission documentation and maintain client files.
  • Foster open communication with interdisciplinary team members regarding client cases and participate in team meetings.
  • Schedule pre-admission medical appointments with physicians as necessary.
  • Manage client waiting lists and assist clients during the detoxification process when needed.
  • Deliver educational sessions about programs as required.
  • Prepare reports and manage data entry as needed.
  • Fulfill other assigned duties.
  • Staff will be required to work various shifts, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience.
  • A degree or diploma in a regulated healthcare program is preferred.
  • Management training or equivalent experience is advantageous.
  • Experience working with patients facing concurrent disorders is essential.
